Greenwood's 1976 Spirit of Sebring

This was the first race car Greenwood built specifically for a customer. That customer funded a team that raced in the 1975-1976 IMSA road racing series. Driven by John Greenwood it won the 1975 IMSA race at Daytona. At the 1976 IMSA 24 hours of Daytona it set a track record, won the pole but did not finish.

Racing success was mixed, with new record's set, however reliability was a problem with the 600 cubic inch 950 plus HP engines.

The enthusiasm this cars appearance generated, led to race promoters approaching Greenwood to request his models participation at their events.
