March 2006 Sebring, FL Race - the Track

The Sebring Tower with Control on the top floor, Scoring and Timing on the third floor and the Press on the second floor with enclosed Suites extending out on either side. Farther out each end are the open Fangio Terrace and Gurney Terrace Pit Box reserved seats. This whole structure over looks the pits.
A drive over bridge at Turn 17 provides a view of the Tower with the Pirelli walk over bridge on the left and the competitors paddock just below the palm tree's. The Fangio Terrace pit box seats are to the left of the Tower and the Gurney Terrace pit box seats to the right.
This was the main road through the Competitors Paddock, and around dinner time was empty on race day.
The view West from the Gurney Terrace. The paddock is at the left. The longest straightaway on the track, the Ulmann Straight is behind the paddock parallel to the Gurney Terrace.
Friday looking West down the Pit Lane at sun down and practice has ended.
The same view from behind the Pit Lane at sun down.
Saturday morning the early pre race activities as seen from the pit boxes seats in the Gurney Terrace. The Pirelli walk over bridge to the left and the Chateau Elan hotel near the center. The Midway is area behind the track at the right.
Pre race activities included the Clydesdales Horses. The Sebring Scoreboard Tower, the east walk over bridge. In the foreground are the Yellow C6R Corvette Pits. What could be better than Chevrolet, Budweiser (the official beer), Sunoco (the official race gas), Sun and the Sebring race. (Note: this is not an official endorsement for any of these products. I personally did not drink any beer, as I was on duty. However, my Delco dealer generously did provide a bottle of domestic wine for examination. Thanks Bob.)
The first lap is recorded as the C6R Corvettes pass the start finish line.
The left hand Turn 1 at the end of the start finish straight away just beyond the Sebring walk over bridge. The Black stained pattern shows the groove which racers followed. It is very wide and there was much passing of slower cars in this area.
I'm a day late and a dollar short as I fumble the camera as the Michelin Girls go by.

Die hard race fans were already set up by early Wednesday. The Budweiser walk over bridge just before the hair pin turn and the Gurney Terrace in the far distance.
The Udder Racing Team has been a fixture since 1993 or so they say.
One of the personal hygiene facilities constructed by fans.
The Wizard of Welding was available for emergency repairs in the paddock.
