June 5, 2005 LI, NY NCRS Race Car Event
1961 Black Silver cove 2x4, big brakes, big tank, hardtop only owned by an old customer, Bill. His first question was: Is the new catalog done?
This highly optioned 1961 was a local LI NY car, that was raced at these local tracks on Long Island.
If you see this knurled pick up truck gas cap on the out side of your 1961-1962 gas door you should have the optional 24 gallon gas tank and no soft top.
This is one of the two different factory roll bars that GM had available for over the counter sales to private racers. Just a loop with one forward brace.
Small hubcaps were part of the finned segmented metallic brake package that included vented backing plates and fans with canvas front scoops and special ducting through the grill. Rear scoops were metal.
This model also has a factory mounted idler pulley which did not even appear in the 1961 AIM but is shown in the 1962 AIM. A really neat car.
This beauty also had the optional over the counter front sway bar kit. It was actually an additional sway bar that was mounted behind the front cross member - in addition to the normally installed front sway bar - that was in front of the front cross member.

If you didn't like the Race Car Corvette Show, you just ain't a car guy.
